England v Pakistan, 4th ODI, Headingly - Azhar Ali's captaincy was very poor last night

I have seen quite a few worst captains in my life and surely, even they will find it tough to beat Azhar Ali. How could he not engage his best bowler when a partnership was flourishing? Yes, it’s tough to defend a 250 plus score against a team like England, but still, when you have the wicket takers in your team, then, you can even defend a score of 200 runs.

Mohammad Irfan’s spell was breathtaking while at one point Umer Gul took stranglehold the English batting line-up when they were four down. But Azhar, stuck to some young and inexperienced bowlers and decided not to mix-up his bowling that much. Even a layman knows very well in this age of social media and cable TV, what to do when a partnership starts to flourish. Sadly, Misbah-ul-Haq and some of the his boot-lickers’ recommended man doesn’t know.

Like Carlos Dunga, Misbah has damaged the Pakistan limited-overs team. Brazil have been lucky enough to replace Dunga with someone like Tite, but whether the Pakistan Cricket Board would be sensible enough to replace Azhar remains a moot question. Azhar has no brains and it’s a fact.

Pakistan could have won the match if Azhar was not the captain.

Azhar deserves a 5-0 drubbing.

Thank You
