No one tried to destroy Shakib Al Hasan's career, but as far
as I know, he received the utmost support from the top.
The matter is not as easy as one thinks and I am sure, only
the close observer of the game and the experienced and competent senior
Bangladeshi Sports journalists could decipher it better.
Those dramatic protests and so on, helped to hide certain
things. Otherwise one of the worst outcomes would have been on offer for
Shakib. At least, his image is saved for the long run.
By the way, his career is not finished and he would return.
ICC have their ways to observe, investigate and handle
matters.
Even David Warner and Steve Smith were not spared for
ball-tampering (by Cricket Australia), whereas this is a case of match-fixing. According to the rules,
Shakib should have informed, which he did in 2008, but not in 2018 and thus, he
was always under ICC's radar.
ICC investigations proceed in certain ways, which we are not
well aware of and thus, we end up with
career-destroying-and-conspiracy-against-Tigers-type theories. Such theories
can help you to hog the limelight in social media, but does little good to our
country and cricket team.
Every dramatic event needs a villain to save the image of
the hero. All I can say the hero is saved and thus, don't panic. Like I said,
the outcome could have been the worst. Thus, don't fall for
anything-and-everything you see in social media.
Thank You
