Tottenham Hotspur gift Manchester United an absolute nightmare

Manchester United never looked convincing enough since the new season kicked off. But their followers thought that gradually the Red Devils would gain the momentum and get back on track as during the summer their signing and a lot of talk about improvements raised hopes. But sadly, at Old Trafford today, the wheels not only just came off but the whole vehicle crashed on the roads of Old Trafford.

For the first time since November 1957 – also against Tottenham – that Manchester United conceded four in the first half and when Harry Kane scored a late penalty United had equaled their record Premier League defeat, having also gone down 6-1 here to Manchester City in 2011.

Jose Mourinho had gifted Manchester United an absolute nightmare, which might haunt OleSolskjær and his unit for the rest of the season.

Solskjær’s sole change was to bring in Eric Bailly for Victor Lindelöf, which meant Donny van de Beek was still to make a league start for United. Mourinho again had no berth for Dele Alli though Son Heung-min was passed fit as the Spurs took the pitch with an attacking mindset.

The Spurs went down 1-0quickly, but very soon they switched to the fourth gear and it was raining goals at Old Trafford.

Bailly and Harry Maguire proved amateur with headers, the latter attempting one back to David de Gea. It was too weak, Luke Shaw tried to hold off Eric Lamela – he could not – and the ball went to Tanguy Ndombele, who smashed home.

Maguire was once again the culprit. This time he hacked down Kane, who bounced to his feet and hit the resultant free-kick quickly as United slept, and in ran Son to beat Bailly and Shaw for pace before he scored.

Manchester United’s hopes of a bounce-back took a telling blow when Anthony Martial was sent off. During a corner, Eric Lamela shoved Martial and moved his arm to the striker’s head. The Frenchman retaliated with a hand to the face of the Argentinean, who dropped as if hit by a George Foreman haymaker and Taylor sent Martial off.

Bailly received a goal-kick from De Gea and hit a pass across his area. It was aimed at Matic but Kane intercepted and found Son, who passed it back and hammered home.

Matic and Bailly allowed Son to run forward without any pressure. Sonny drifted to the near post and beat David de Gea.

More goals came in the second half and even more, could have come.

Jose was smiling and punching his feast as if he was taking revenge to the insult he was gifted when he was the manager of the Red Devils. Jose was sacked and Ole was appointed, but it seems, Manchester United have become one of the worst sides from a decent one since Jose left.
