Will Kylian Mbappe join Real Madrid?

Last week, it seemed that deal between Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) regarding the World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe had almost reached a conclusion, but what we ended up witnessing was the move of the greatest footballer of his generation Cristiano Ronaldo from Juventus to Manchester United.

That move totally overshadowed the hype of Mbappe saga and Lionel Messi’s eventful transfer. Still, with a few days left for this wild summer transfer to end, the patience regarding Mbappe’s move from Paris to Madrid is reaching the tipping point.

Before the match against Real Betis, in a press conference, Carlo Ancelotti was asked multiple questions about Mbappe, the coach insisted that his priority was to win against Betis, which they did.

“It's a matter for the club and I can't say more," the Italian said when first asked about the transfer,” said Ancelotti.

“I know it is of great interest, but I can't say anything more right now. I'm just focused on this weekend's match.”

The potential departure of Mbappe was the main talking point at Mauricio Pochettino's Saturday press conference, ahead of PSG's match against Stade de Reims on Sunday.

“No, he hasn't said that he wants to leave PSG,” Pochettino said when asked if the forward had said goodbye to the squad yet.

“He is training well, as he always does. Our president and sporting director have already explained the club's stance on this situation.”

Pochettino even suggested that Mbappe could be included in the squad list for the match against Reims.

“I insist, he is doing well and preparing for tomorrow's match,” the coach stated.

After submitting an improved offer of 170 million euros, plus 10m euros in add-ons, on Thursday, Real Madrid are still waiting on a response from PSG.

As such, and according to Le Parisien, Real Madrid directors have given PSG an ultimatum, with the aim of their offer being accepted either this Saturday or Sunday.

According to MARCA, “The clubs are now said to be negotiating, while Mbappe wants the matter resolved before 13:00 CEST on Monday when he must join up with the French national team.”

“Florentino Perez wants the signing to be completed as soon as possible and wants PSG to either accept the bid or, if not, then to communicate this to Real Madrid, who will then look to agree a pre-contract agreement with the player in January, once he enters the final six months of his current contract. He could then arrive for free in the summer of 2022.”

Mbappe has been linked with a move away from Ligue 1 since failing to agree on a new deal with PSG.

With just one year left on his current contract, Real Madrid's pressure could force the French club into accepting to avoid losing the star on a free transfer next summer.

If the deal is derailed, it could affect PSG's post-Mbappe plans with various reports claiming that the club has targeted Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski, Borussia Dortmund's Erling Haaland, or Everton's Richarlison as a replacement.
