There is a difference between the best and the rest. Steve
Smith is the best while the rest of Australian batters are miles behind him.
Smith has resuscitated the Australian batting lineup, which was in total
disarray at one point.
He was vulnerable against the moving ball 4 years ago, but
not anymore.
The bat still hangs in the air facing towards third slip,
point or gully, but when the bat comes down, it remains straight and the gap
between bat and pad is minimal. Above all, a great improvement in footwork,
which is essential to counter the moving ball.
Smith has returned to Test cricket with a hundred under
pressure and this is the sort of toughness you expect from an Aussie. This is
the Australian way.
