Bangladesh v India ODI series 2014 - The Tigers should cement a balanced XI

The Bangladesh Cricket Board have announced a 15-man squad for the upcoming One-day series against India. I had a look at the team and thought what might be the final XI? It might look like this: 1. Tamim Iqbal 2. Anamul Haque 3. Mominul Haque 4. Mushfiqur Rahim 5. Shakib Al Hasan 6. Nasir Hossain 7. Mahmudullah Riyad 8. Ziaur Rahman 9. Mashrafe Mortaza 10. Abdur Razzak 11. Taskin Ahmed.

They might stick with Razzak ahead of Sohag Gazi as because of his vast experience in limited-overs cricket. I would have loved to see Arafat Sunny in the team and I would love to see the young Taskin in action instead of Al Amin.

It is expected that both Nasir and Mahmudullah might get picked but you must remember that both Nasir and Mahmudullah are out of form. It will not be wise to stick with two out-of-form players. In that case, it would be wise to stick with just one player - either Nasir or Mahmudullah and add an extra-batsman in the team. If Zia get's picked then he would fill the gap of either Nasir or Mahmudullah.

Who could be that extra-batsman? There is Shamsur Rahman and Mithun Ali. But I think instead of Shamsur, Imrul Kayes would have been the ideal choice. The Bangladesh batting line-up needs resolve and Imrul Kayes would have been the ideal person to inject that. I would have love to see Imrul at number three with Mominul coming in at number four, Shakib at five and Mushfiq at six.

What is the inclusion of Mithun Ali indicating? Is Bangladesh cricket's think-tank thinking of lifting up the pressure from Mushfiq the wicketkeeper? Are they thinking of utilizing Mushfiq only as a batsman? They don't wish to see Anamul as wicketkeeper as well I guess. Then I think, Mithun Ali might fill in Mushfiq's boots as the keeper. And it might happen only the think-tank thinks of either playing Nasir or Mahmudullah.

Thank You
