Any team can have a bad day, but when it becomes consistent,
certainly it gives raise to some questions. Real Madrid are having a bad season
and last night their performance against Tottenham Hotspur was disastrous.
Be it the Los Blancos or Barcelona, whenever they lost their
grip over midfield, they enter a lean-patch automatically. Then the centre
backs of Madrid were sluggish – Spur forwards easily outweighed the likes of Sergio
Ramos. Nacho Fernandez and Hakimi were both full of errors. Casemiro had no
connection with Toni Kroos and Luka Modric and Cristiano Ronaldo was a shadow
of last two seasons while I have nothing to say about Karim Benzema. Again, the
highly rated Isco was found wanting at the right.
At present Real are flailing. For a team like Real Madrid it
is expected, they will hit back similarly like the 2015-16 season. But that
would require enough repair work in the midfield.
