England v Australia, 1st Test, Day 3 - Australia have a tough task ahead

Well, what a wonderful days Test cricket it had been at Cardiff! The Test match proceeded in a fascinating manner. It offered top quality cricket throughout the day. The highlight of day 3 was the scintillating stroke-play of Ian Bell. He counterattacked in an authoritative manner and ensured that England take a handy lead to test the Australian batsmen on this track which is on the slower side and tough to bat on.

England are on top at the moment and deserve to win this Test match. Their batsmen have come good when it mattered the most while their pace bowlers have been stupendous. They bowled with sharp pace, nagging line and incisive length and above all, their bowling according to the field had been praiseworthy.

The Australian pace bowlers did discover the ideal length to pitch the ball, but I think it was too late. Nathan Lyon was quite effective today and Australia should worry about Moeen Ali on day 4....
