Sri Lanka v India, 3rd Test, Day 5 - Kusal Perea reverse sweeps and India win the series

What a dramatic end to the final Test match at Colombo! When Angelo Mathews and Kusal Perera stitched an inspiring partnership, it seemed that yet another sixth wicket stand would make the Indians suffer. The Indians were trying their level best to break the defiant stand between Mathews and Perera, but their efforts were proving fruitless. In such situations, one expects a mistake from the opposition batsmen and Kusal Perera's one moment of brain-fade dented, not only Sri Lanka's chance, but soured his brilliant debut as well.

Just four overs before the new-ball and tea, Perera went for an unnecessary reverse sweep. It was  an absolute madness which wasted all the hard works. The Indian bowlers didn’t take enough time to bring an end to Sri Lanka’s innings. Angelo Mathews’ brilliant knock went in vain. India have broken the 22-year jinx and captain Virat Kohli is a delighted man
