Liverpool are back!

Back in 2017, Crystal Palace were the last team to achieve a victory as an away team at Anfield. They returned to Anfield with the hopes of repeating the feat, but their plans took a telling blow due to the injury of brilliant Wilfried Zaha. It was a costly miss.

After the dull display against Everton at Goodson Park, Liverpool came back to Anfield with the intent to blow the opposition away and Palace experienced rage of the Red Tiger, who took the field only to crush the opponents.

Georginio Wijnaldum had already spurned a glorious opportunity before Alexander-Arnold's sublime set-piece strike broke the deadlock, the full-back lifting the ball over the Palace wall and beyond Wayne Hennessey's desperate dive.

Fabinho's delightful pass picked out Salah's run in behind to lift the ball over the Palace goalkeeper in the 44th minute, while the Brazilian went for power to thump in a stunning third from distance 10 minutes into the second half.

Sadio Mane rounded out the scoring when Salah's through ball allowed him a clear run on goal before steering a low shot past Hennessey.

Crystal Palace were dead and buried.

Liverpool are back with a bang!

They were the best in all the departments. Their work-rate with and without the ball was ferocious throughout, so much so that Palace did not have a single touch in the Liverpool penalty area all night. No team has achieved that unwanted record since such statistics started being recorded in the 2008-09 season.

It was Liverpool’s 56th league game without defeat at Anfield.

The Reds will now wait to see if Manchester City keep them waiting into July to end a 30-year wait to be crowned champions again; Pep Guardiola's side must win at Chelsea on Thursday to remain in the hunt from a mathematical point of view.
