The latest tactical move of Zinedine Zidane

For Real Madrid, winning every match has become the most important job. After the break of COVID-19 Pandemic, the Los Blancos has been at their very best – hey have been an amalgamation of attacking football and compactness. In the match against Mallorca, they had been brilliant with Vinicius Junior delivering yet another match-winning performance, while Sergio Ramos showed why he is regarded as the Leader of Men!

In the match against Mallorca, the coach of Royal Whites, Zinedine Zidane injected some innovative moves, which gave Real a new dimension.

With Casemiro suspended, Zidane surfaced two pivots – Luka Modric and Fede Valverde - with Eden Hazard, Gareth Bale, and Vinicius Junior in front of them.  Many were surprised to see Eden Hazard, Vinicius Junior, and Gareth Bale all start together behind Karim Benzema in the attack.

More of then, Zidane preferred a 4-4-2 formation with a diamond-shaped midfield, where Isco formed the tip of the diamond.

But he came out of that formation and decided to add more attacking flair in the system and it came just a few days after Zidane had opted to start James Rodriguez in the attack against Real Sociedad.

Zidane is used to rotating his squad to keep everyone happy and fresh as they look to achieve the club's objectives. He is shaping up with a 4-2-3-1 formation, which changes to 4-5-1, when defends and when they attack, they take the 4-3-3 shape – Benzema is often seen joining the midfield.

Zidane’s rotation policy has been criticized by many, but the French maestro has been doing this to achieve flexibility, which allows him to try and test different players - In his 203 matches in charge of Los Blancos, he's used 179 different starting line-ups.

Zidane has found a place for almost everyone in his teams this season, from Alphonse Areola and Eder Militao to Rodrygo Goes and Brahim Diaz.

In the match against Mallorca, the shape was new for many of the Real Madrid followers and it indicates, gradually, Zidane is settling to a system, where Real would attack without losing any compactness at the back.

Everyone is eagerly waiting to see what Zidane comes up against Espanyol.
