Vinicius Junior impresses yet again

Real Madrid continue their unbeaten run since the return of La Liga after the break for COVID-19 Pandemic. The Los Blancos are safeguarding their marginal head-to-head lead over Barcelona which sees them top of the table. They know very well, if they slip in one match, their chances would be over. And thus, the players are giving their best and Zinedine Zidane does is dishing out all the tactical moves he has under his sleeves to ensure that Real would win this season’s La Liga title.

Zidane surfaced a team with double pivots and obviously with a sound defensive structure. Gareth Bale was in a narrow position to help Luka Modric and Fede Valverde in midfield; while Ferland Mendy and Vinicius were able to keep Pozo and Kubo in check on the flank. Mallorca struggled defensively and didn’t have an answer to Vinicius Jr’s off-ball runs.

Every time Luka Modric, Fede Valverde, Eden Hazard, or Karim Benzema looked up, they already had Vinicius sprinting into a dangerous position to catch Mallorca’s defensive line napping. Vinicius was a constant outlet. Relentless in his pursuit of getting the ball into the box as fast as possible.

Vinicius might have been a surprise starter but he justified Zidane's call 19 minutes in, steering a finish high past Manolo Reina after a clever reverse pass from Luka Modric. Six minutes later, Vinicius received a disguised through-ball from Karim Benzema, this time hitting the bar.

For the second time in a row, Vinicius proved to be the most influential player on the pitch for Real Madrid. His electric pace and dribbling skills have been beneficial for Real on the left, where once upon a time, someone called Cristiano Ronaldo used to rule the roost. Yes, his finishing still requires fine-tuning. But it seems, he is getting there and when he would start scoring consistently, Vini would be one of the best in the world.

The success of Vini is not a fluke. But he has worked hard to earn the faith of Zidane and his fellow teammates.

Sergio Ramos, Karim Benzema, and Dani Carvjal are just a few names who have been known to be working with a trainer in addition to the work done with Zidane and his staff at Real Madrid City.

Thiago Lobo is a well-known name among Brazilian football. He has worked as the physiotherapist for Santos, the Brazilian youth national teams, and exclusively for players like Neymar, Gabigol, and Marquinhos.

After Vinicius injured his ankle against Ajax last season, the Brazilian hired his compatriots' services to elevate his game and avoid any future injuries.

Lobo’s work is completed in tandem with the plan constructed by Real Madrid fitness coach, Gregory Dupont. Vinicius, like so many Madrid players, has built an in-home gym in his residence on the outskirts of the city. Lobo has helped construct his new diet which is prepared by a chef that Vinicius and his family hired after his first full year in Madrid.
Vinicius recognizes the sacrifice and work ethic required not only to join Real Madrid but to “make it” at Real Madrid and mark the next era – the era of Real Madrid, where he wishes to be the best.

His brilliant displays against Real Sociedad and Mallorca hinted, his hard work is paying off and it is expected he would continue to impress in the upcoming matches as well.
