Juventus are far from convincing

It was evident that at some point of time after the break Juventus would confirm their 9-straight Italian Serie A title and last night against Sampdoria they did it.  Cristiano Ronaldo's 31st Serie A goal of the season and Federico Bernardeschi's second-half effort delivered a ninth successive Scudetto for Juventus as they defeated Sampdoria 2-0.

Ronaldo swept home following a well-worked Miralem Pjanic free-kick for his 10th goal since the league resumed - making him the most prolific player across Europe's top five leagues following the COVID-19 break - and it was an unlikely source who wrapped up the triumph as Bernardeschi scored his first Serie A goal since September 2018.

Juve celebrated their triumph and Cristiano broke records as he became the footballer to score most goals in a season for Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus – the man is unstoppable when the matter is about scoring goals and scripting new records.

The great man dedicated Juventus' ninth successive Serie A title to the club's fans, particularly those that have suffered as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and proved yet again, as a human being he is equally great.

But one topic, which Juventus should be kept in mind – they have not been convincing enough this season and requires galvanization in next season.

In the summer of 2018, Juve signed Cristiano Ronaldo to make the team a global brand and dominate beyond Italy. In the 2018-19 season, that plan did not work and in this season it does not look satisfactory because Juve were expected to win the Scudetto in style.

Even with someone like Ronaldo around, Juve racked up just 75 goals whereas Atalanta netted 96 goals – and their display has been much better than the champions.

Most pleasingly of all for those enraged by Agnelli's attitude towards smaller clubs, Atalanta have made Juve look bad, most notably of all when they traveled to Turin last week.

At one point, Juve were denied a single touch in the Atalanta half for a mind-blowing eight minutes and 11 seconds. It was an utterly humiliating passage of play for a side of Juve's resources.

Juve earned a 2-2 draw on the night, thanks to a couple of farcical penalty decisions, but they were, tellingly, grateful for the point.

Then the rise of AC Milan have made Juve look bad and even they lost in the last encounter.

Maurizio Sarri came to Turin with the concept of Sarri-ball, but until now this concept has not shown enough promise. The midfield lacked creativity while the defence leaked goals despite the presence of Matthijs de Ligt and Leandro Bonucci.

The only performer of the season has been Paulo Dybala. The Argentine came out of the shadow of Ronaldo and carried the burden of a side, which seemed tired and lack of heart.

Surely, Sarri has noticed all these things, and would accordingly.

But the pressure of leaving Turin seems to increase each day for Sarri.
