Real Madrid and VAR: A false propaganda against the Los Blancos

After the victory against Deportivo Alaves last night, Real Madrid have maintained an unbeaten run in La Liga so far after the break. They are quite close to winning the La Liga title this year by beating their bitter arch-rivals Barcelona who are also in the hunt to retain their title this season. But since football returned in Spain, Real have been the better side than Barca and their intent had been clearer and more positive than the Catalan Club, who are quite blew-par till now.

Whenever Real Madrid start playing better, the anti-Real-Madrid elements tend to start their nonsense propaganda to undermine the achievement of the Royal Whites. Even the prominent experts and websites tend to join the anti-Madrid bandwagon and crucify the Los Blancos, which just lack technical points, proper explanation, but contains the intention to attack Real Madrid.

These experts forget about how the referees, match officials, media, sponsors, and big institutions have been protecting Lionel Messi for the last 10 years. One does not need to rewind enough, but just notice the match against Sevilla, where Messi clearly committed a foul, which deserved a red card, but still, he was spared and none even bothered to highlight it enough!

Just imagine Neymar, Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos in that position – all hell would have broken down!

Real Madrid have been scoring goals from penalties and that is why the anti-Real-Madrid camp are vociferous claiming, VAR is assisting them and Real Madrid control the referees, which is quite absurd, when we look at the past of teams like Barcelona, whose Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain in the 2016-17 season came under scrutiny and one could guess an idea, how the officials always protect their star – Messi.

Even if we take a look at the match against Espanyol the other day, we could see how Clement Lenglet got away despite his ugly tackle. Then someone like Gerard Pique seems to overlook the following the Lenglet's goal against Bartra (Betis),  Messi's dive against Leganes, and most importantly their best player scored two goals from the spot-kicks!

Again, there had been quite a few incidents where Real Madrid were denied by VAR this season:

1. A clear handball inside the box by Real Betis defender Zouhair Feddal in the 0-0 draw. An obvious penalty not given.

Brahim Diaz’s shirt being pulled in a goal-scoring position inside the area during the 1-0 loss against Mallorca. A penalty could’ve gotten Real Madrid a point.

Raphael Varane being kicked in his knees inside the box against Barcelona at Camp Nou. A penalty and possible win denied.

Luka Modric being given direct red-card for the slightest of touches on Celta Vigo’s Denis Suarez.

Vinicius Jr was clearly fouled inside the penalty area in the 2-2 draw against Villarreal. No penalty was given again.

A clear hand-ball leading up to Sevilla’s goal during the 2-1 win at Santiago Bernabeu. The goal was given despite the checking of VAR.

While speaking to Betfair, the former World Champion of Brazil and Barcelona legend, Rivaldo said, “Sometimes you have the right to feel upset about refereeing or VAR decisions but I do not agree with Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu's claims that there is a bias towards Madrid. Bartomeu is simply trying to distract the media from his club's problems”.

“Barcelona are still fighting for the Liga title, and they're still in the Champions League, but this is not a good moment for the club. Bartomeu is trying to use stuff like VAR to justify himself to the fans and pretend that his club's difficulties aren't the fault of himself, the players, or the manager”.

Now, here is someone, who ran the show in Barcelona when they were nothing, and still, he gave the Catalan Club a lot with minimum support – it is hard to argue against the logic, which Rivaldo gave.

The other day, Real Madrid captain, Sergio Ramos said, “We won’t win or lose the Liga title because of the referees, they should not be given credit because we’re leading the table, they didn’t do anything decisive”.

Then when the anti-Real-Madrid elements started to question the goal scored by Marco Asesnsio, Ramos said, “It's a goal, clearly” and later on various video angles proved, Ramos was right and it was a legitimate goal.

Raphael Varane said, “Outside noise doesn't matter to us. We control our attitude that we show on the pitch”.

While Zinedine Zidane expressed his anger regarding this VAR and referee issue, “I’m tired of always talking about the same thing. It seems like we only win thanks to the referees, and that’s not true. Real Madrid and its players deserve respect.”

Surely, Real Madrid deserve the respect and due credit for their success and not only Real, but any teams deserve the same.

Playing the blame-game is a ploy of the weak and frustrated people and right now Barcelona players and officials are in such a situation. One should not forget their own dark past, rather, it would be better to fix your own problems and learn something from the team, which is playing better football.
