The Durban track started to suit the spinners more. Maharaj
picked up five wickets while Nathan Lyon was among the wickets from the word
go, but when Mitchell Starc started to target the fourth stump from round the
wicket, things were tough for South Africa.
South Africa were clearly Starc-struck. Starc generated pace
and reversed the ball - late swing from middle and off which moved away - to
jolt the batting lineup. Then there was that Pat Cummins who bounced the ball
on this slowish deck. Surely, if you've the skills, you can bounce it on any
deck. Imran Khan, Malcolm Marshall, Joel Garner, Michael Holding, Andy Roberts
and the 2Ws did it and now watching Cummins to do such.
The day belongs to Australia and a deck favouring Lyon and
Maharaj, the Australian pacers proved to be electrifying.
