Wahab Riaz was fiery
The Pakistani pacers
bagged early wickets and once again Wahab Riaz was too hot to handle. His first spell was exciting where the average
speed was 88.9 mph while the fastest being 91.6 mph. His contest against Joe
Root brought back the memories of Adelaie where he banged the ball short,
generated extreme pace and triggered hostility on a flat deck.
Cook’s dismissal was a well thought
plan
When a Zulfiqar Babar delivery failed to dislodge the bails
of Alastair Cook, it seemed that Cook might script yet another marathon knock
like Abu Dhabi. But, he was dismissed after scoring 65 runs. Alastair Cook made the Pakistani bowlers
suffer a lot in Abu Dhabi, but in Dubai the Pakistani think tank didn’t let
that happen. He was undone by his own strength – the leg glance. Misbah put as
many as six fielders on the leg side – four in front of square and two behind.
Yasir Shah delivered one at which Cook went for the flick and was caught at leg
slip. He was suckered by that field change.
Very good thinking by Misbah and co.
Mark Wood was impressive in the morning session
Mark Wood was impressive in the morning session
From England’s point of view Mark Wood remained the most impressive bowler. His trajectories proved handy for the Pakistani batsmen. Mark Wood can be an outstanding bower to watch if injuries don’t cut short his career. He complements Anderson and Broad brilliantly as the third seamer and they guy has the skill and temperament to test a batsman on any tracks.
Moeen Ali and not Adil Rashid is the best English spinner. Adil did excite a lot of experts, but till now, I have not seen anything special in his bowling. Yes, I am not writing him off as I also think he can be better.
Joe Root is fighting it out for England and an eventful day waiting for us on day 3.
Thank You
