Pakistan v England, 1st test, Day 4 - It was all about Alastair Cook and Wahab Riaz

It was all about Alastair Cook's marathon knock and Wahab Riaz's bone-chilling and fiery spell of fast bowling on a flat deck. Alastair Cook batted and batted to rewrite the record books and as a matter of fact saved the Test match for England with sheer grit and concentration.

I am happy for Alastair Cook as because he digested a lot of criticism last year and there was a moment when his tenure as England's captain was coming to an end in the most bizarre fashion. The lean-patch has subsided and it was due to the faith put in him by the England Cricket Board and of course, Cook's self-belief.

The Pakistan bowling lacked penetration or it will be better to say that Cook and the Abu Dhabi track totally dented Pakistan's hopes of dominating over the English. Pakistan were looking for some inspiration and once again, Wahab Riaz burst into the scene to script yet another lively spell of fast bowling defying the placid deck and sultry weather. Wahab has now been involved in two most eye-catching bowling spells this year.

But he was seen to walk back into the pavilion after bowling so fast and Pakistan must be careful about this as at this moment they can't afford to bear the loss of another key player.

The current England team is a determined unit and Pakistan should not forget what happened in 2000.
