The Sri Lankans were all set to post a massive total in
their first innings, but the dismissal of Chandimal against the run of play
triggered a surprise batting collapse which resulted in fall of seven wickets
for just 59 runs. The West Indies were left to rue about their dropped catches
on day 1.
Still, 484 runs in
the first innings looks secured enough and it proved to be a daunting task for
the Caribbean batters when Rangana Herath struck twice to jolt the West Indies
top order. Herath’s drift, turn and control are looking dangerous which might
pose a big threat on day 3.
