Chile v Argentina, 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers - Argentina secure valuable points

If Chile were missing Arturo Vidal then Argentina were missing Javier Mascherano today. Chile took the lead within 11 minutes of the game, but in the 20th minute a moment magic from Angel Di Maria who provided a perfect finish from the left side of the box to leave Claudio Bravo stunned. Chile’s good start was well challenged as Argentina gathered momentum with the progression of time, though they didn't dominate they way their fans expect them to do.

Chile looked threatening enough, but the absence of Vidal in midfeild hinted the lack of a controller of the game. Alexis Sanchez struggled to control the game and push his men forward to utilize the fragility in the Argentine defence.

Lionel Messi was not having an easy time on the pitch, but when there was a need for a chickiness, Leo provided the one with a flick to Mercado to seal the match for Argentina. Even though in the second half’s final periods, the Albiceleste were found wanting, but they overcame the Chilean threat to secure valuable points. A valuable win for Argentina.
