Ross Taylor and Brendon McCullum started with intent , but it
soon disappeared when Taylor was dismissed while trying to hook Josh Hazlewood.
The bounce was variable at Gabba which made quite tough for the Kiwi batters to
put up a resistance. These days, the batsmen just lack the technique to handle
such variable bounce. Natha Lyon proved his worth as a fourth innings bowler again.
There was some brief resolve shown by the last-wicket pair and added
frustration to Australia, but in the end Australia completed a thumping win.
The Gabba Test was such a damp squib.
