India v South Africa, 1st Test, Day 1 - A day when twelve wickets fell

Batsmen like Murali Vijay are never hailed in the modern era. The modern era doesn’t like those willow-wielders whose bat don’t spark. But they fail to realize the value of Murali-like-batsmen who can defend and motor the innings when the circumstances are tough.

The Mohali track is not like a road, but I found it a confusing one as I watched the ball to behave not the way which one expects in India. Some of the balls turned while the some of them didn’t, which is enough to put the batsmen in a dilemma.

And it is during such situations, you need a batsman who has the focus, patience and defence to repair an innings which seemed to have lost its way. In the social media, critics and fans are criticizing the collapse of the Indian batting line-up without even realizing the nature of the pitch and the majority of them has forgotten to praise Murali Vijay.

That’s not fair at all.

South Africa might be happy to dismiss India cheaply, but I don’t think things will be easier for them tomorrow. Application will the order of the day for them.
